Paula & Mark’s Alternative Wedding at The Sessions House, Spalding – A Lincolnshire Love Story Like No Other

Every once in a while, a wedding comes along that completely rewrites the rules.

Paula and Mark’s day at The Sessions House in Spalding, Lincolnshire wasn’t just a wedding — it was a full-blown celebration of personality, music, and love with zero pretence. From the moment Paula walked down the aisle to “Welcome to the Black Parade” by My Chemical Romance, I knew this was going to be something special.

This is the kind of wedding that reminds me exactly why I do what I do.

A Wedding That Broke Every Rule (In the Best Way)

The Sessions House — with its historic architecture and atmospheric lighting — was the perfect backdrop for their monochrome black-and-white theme. Every detail felt intentional: bold, stylish, and unapologetically them.

But it wasn’t just about aesthetics. This wedding was bursting with character. Mark arrived at the venue in a procession of WWII military jeeps, a nod to his passion for history — and an entrance no one will forget in a hurry.

Then came Paula — in black, confident, radiant, and walking down the aisle to one of the most iconic emo anthems ever written. The energy in the room was electric.

Laughter, Magic and Chaos (the Best Kind)

The whole day flowed with the kind of rhythm that makes for incredible film — full of laughter, emotion, and wild, unpredictable moments.

After the ceremony, guests were treated to a 45-minute magic show by the brilliant Stephen B. Wiley, who kept everyone mesmerised (and slightly bewildered!) with close-up tricks and mind-bending illusions. It was one of those rare, original touches that made their day completely unforgettable.

And just when you thought the surprises were over, Paula and Mark took to the floor for their first dance — not to a slow ballad, but to a rave track that set the tone for the night ahead. The dancefloor erupted, and it didn’t stop until late.

This wasn’t a wedding that tiptoed around tradition. It ripped up the rulebook and danced on it — literally.

Alternative Love Stories in Lincolnshire

Weddings like Paula and Mark’s are why I love being an alternative wedding videographer in Lincolnshire. The Sessions House in Spalding has so much character, and when couples bring their full selves to a venue like that, the result is magic on film.

Their story shows that an alternative wedding isn’t about being dark or edgy for the sake of it — it’s about doing things your way, unapologetically. Whether that’s walking down the aisle to My Chemical Romance, arriving in army jeeps, or throwing a rave in a historic courtroom, your wedding should feel like you.

That’s exactly what Everlong Wedding Films is all about — authentic, emotional storytelling for couples who want something real.
